Well last week we had a sheriffs meeting. As usual it really produced nothing. Alot of this were discussed but no real solutions were offered up. 4 officals from the dept were there 3 were pretty good and willing to listed and one came in with the left field attitude of do what I say and thats it. Been busy here in the shop and with towing which is good I guess. But that has also not given me much time for family and Towspace. I will get better at multitasking I promise.

On a family note. It looks like our little boy will be here a little earlier than origanaly thought. Prob going to be here around the first week of June from the looks of things.

What is the next step for the towng industry

Hello everyone! Sorry about being laxed on my blog posts again. Not really sure how many are following it but if you do i hope you enjoy them atleast a little.

I would like to talk about the future of the towing industry for a moment. Since that is what this site is all about. The big question is where are we headed and how many will stand together to do it.

Professionalism today is a big topic 40 yrs ago people did not care what you or your company looked like but that has changed and I for one think that is good for us all. We should hold ourselves to a higher standard than we do. We are professional people and we all want to be look at in that light. But the fact remains their are many who do not wish to conform to the changing world and would rather remain in the dark ages of the back woods days of towing. Professionalism stems from training for business owners and employees alike. If you dont have the skills to be a good business person their are classes for that. Now im not saying you need to go to college and get a degree. Their are seminars and online classes available to give you tools to run your business better. Everyone should take advantage of them when you can get in one.

Most towing owners will spend money on equipment and hands on training but leave the business side on a slippery slope. Back in the day you could lumber along like that. Now days your customer is smarter and more inclined to looks plus service. Smart consumers require smart business people. And I think alot of us could use a few more tools in our toolbox to deal with this.

Driver retention is another hot topic in our industry. How do we weed out the bad people but at the same time retain our good people. the biggest issue As I see it is health care and with the new Gov plan things are gonna get worse before they get better. With the size of our industry I believe we are big enough to become self insured for this if we all buy into a pool our rate should be pretty good. Now i know their is alot of red tape to all of it but we need to figure something out and quick.

Been a few days

Sorry about not updating the blog! Been a little side tracked here as of late. Busy and a bunch of other little things have been keeping me occupied. We really do need a 48 hr day to get things done lol. So one of the big things going on right now is we are in the process of updating one of our rollbacks. Man have prices gone up on rollbacks like they are made of gold or something. Another problem is their are way to many choices to deal with. Options are good but which way do you go. Reg, LCG, rightapproach (which we have now and like) side puller no side puller or do you order it with a removable headboard and leave room for the side puller at a later time? Ugh I dont know. I found the chassis I want but the dealer dont like that idea and it is gonna make it hard for me to trade our truck in now. Im sorry i like gm chassis and i have a certain spec i want and i found it. I say here it is go get it if you can get a better deal on it then split that difference with me! Ahh ohwell right. I see we did have a small issue on here with some profiles needing their password reset. I applogize for that. And the problem has been solved.
Towspace is growing and I am happy that people are starting to find it thru friends and our facebook page. Which I think the facebook page cause a slow down rather than a big boost as I had thought. think some people thought once they signed up their that they were on towspace. But thru announcements on facebook people are starting to show up on the actual site.

I welcome everyone to our site if you are a tower this site was built for YOU! And is working with your best interest at heart. That is the point of the site. With the test pilot open of ineedawrecker.com I hope owners and managers will see Towspace is here for your benifit. Other things are already on the drawing board to get everyone involved so sit back and enjoy they ride on Towspace.

Think Spring

Well it is time to start thinking spring. Atleast that is how you make it thru these last couple of months of cold snowy weather. Things have been pretty good sofar I think around here. Just had an employee move on to a new job which is great since it kinda fit the plan anyways. You know how it is when people do not fit your plan or they will not get with the program. Well that is what I was dealing with but that has passed now so time to move forward now that we can! Still gotta get a person to get with it or get out. I would like to see them get with it but I doubt that will happen sooooo i guess we will see in a latter blog post lol. Been working on the oil pan job from hell in the shop I have now learned from a mistake and I will never let it happen again. 460 in a motorhome needs an oil pan lol sorry shop is full forever. Well anyways back to things.

Wow my last blog was last sunday

Guess I am slipping or I was busy or I had nothing to say. Well their I guess that covers most of the excusses lol. Well anyways got the office 85% done yup were almost there!!!! It is looking pretty good. Which kinda makes me wonder why some people here do not and did not want it done. It is really kinda retarded if you ask me. Sunday.

Well hello everyone. I hope things are going well for you on this Sunday 2-7-10 which is also Super Bowl Sunday! Which means you will only get calls before and after the game lol. Let me ask you this is sunday the end of the week or the begining of the next one? I think it is both. I am here at home today which its nice to sit home for a while but if I dont make it to the shop today as I never went to the shop last sunday I feel like I did something wrong. Kinda like something was left out of my day. I know having a day off should be a good feeling but for some reason it bothers me to be home and never go in and see what is going on.

Well I hope everyone enjoys your sunday wheather you had the day off or not. I hope you enjoyed what you did today wheather it was church with the family or preparing for your super bowl day....

Steady but Steady

Well the new office is almost done and that is awsome since I have been trying to do this project for years and I am finally getting it done. Suns out

Well the sun is out here and the temp is 12 but thank the lord no wind. Been a pretty good day today My first call sent me to south buffalo but atleast the customer was cool. I thought she was nuts at first but I think she was just more frazzled that the car would not start and she kinda lost it for a bit LOL. Brian and I went to lunch I bought cause I owed him. We invited out buddy Randy who we call JuiceBox cause we need someone to pick on while we were eating lol. Ok thats all for now seems to be a pretty quiet day but now that I said that we will se what my next blg post has instore !!

Always something around here.

Well the warm spell we had was over woke up to some nice colder temps this am. My first call was a Ford Foucus doing a nose stand in a water filled ditch nice huh. No rear access and mmy WM wheel wrap kept coming undone lol finally got under it to hook up and pull low to not rip off the bumper. Got it on the road and she drove it home. Got to the shop and my friend that was suppose to be putting in the new ceiling for the remodel on the office did not show up. Not sure what happened to him he is usually here when he says he will be oh well maybe tomarrow right!!
After that, Dave our rollback driver calls in with a issue (Vibration). He swings in and yep rear Ujoint is shot nice huh. Well he deliverd the van he had on and brought it back to the shop for the repair. We get it in and look things over to find the awsome miller bed pivot on the right side is tore out AGAIN!! Yeah I repaired it a few years ago. Ugh this truck is really pissing me off lol. Well the day ended with it all together and a quick grease job. Now Dave fired it up to drive it out of the shop and the brake preasure light and alarm started it crap LOL Nice huh. Yeah its tuesday. I HATE Tuesdays and Internationals LOL

Moving right along

Well Towspace seems to be moving along pretty good. membership is starting to pick up and thats a good thing. I would like to see some more activity but all in good time all in good time. I kinda think some people are over whelmed by what they see here (their is alot to explore). All I can say is dont be afraid of it you cant hurt it LOL. My hope are that oneday Towspace will be one of the most used sites for towing on the internet. Its big enough to handle it but still able to be fun and down to earth at the same time. Busy here

Man its been so busy here I havent had time to write anything in here LOL. Well we got a ton of snow and it created so business. Not much heavy work but everything else has been doing pretty well. Today the 13th of Jan was pretty windy causing alot of drifting snow but hey atleast the sun was out. Today Jan 13th 2010 is the opening of Towspace!!!!!!!!!!!! It is sweet but man did it take forever. This thing is a monster but I am pretty sure thw towers it is built for will like it!!!!!!!! Catch ya on the flip side Jr

Snow Season!!!!!

Well as I can see this snow season is going to be an up and down roller coaster ride. Last weeks as ben decent but almost no police calls to speak of this month. I really think the cops are feeling bad for people and letting them park these things. We got some good snow on sunday into monday which did help quite a bit and it has also seemed to have boosted the whole week. Got a real nice fax letter from ATA telling me they are only going to pay $20 of the $450 they owe me yeah I dont freaking hink so and sign a new contract with them on top of it oh come off of it ata.
